According to the 2009 research activities e-v-a-luation of Korea’s four-year universities conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and National Research Foundation of Korea, PNU ranked first among regional universities and fifth among all Korean universities in terms of the total number of published papers (1511.1). It was ranked third among the nation’s universities, and fifth among the nation’s colleges and universities in terms of the number of papers per faculty (1.28).

PNU also ranked seventh, fifth, sixth and eighth in terms of the number of SCI-class papers (495), the number of papers registered to Korea Research Foundation (911), technology transfer cases (67.9 cases worth KRW 0.927 billion) and patents registered (241.71), respectively. PNU plans to further reinforce its research and educational infrastructure and research support.
